822 Cedar Street
" Oscar O. Reed House "

Built before 1900, this home was the home of Oscar O. Reed and his wife, Mary (Lehnherr) Reed, daughter of city founder, Christian Lehnherr. Oscar moved to the area in 1871 with his parents. He died in October of 1921.

For many years, the home served as the local funeral chapel, and the parlor on the north east corner of the house was used where the viewing area was located.

This home is presently being restored to its former glory. The current owners indicate that the home was converted to apartments for many years, and numerous alterations were made. It has now been returned to a single family home.

Information on the Heritage Homes website was compiled from Reflections of the Past: Myrtle Point, Oregon Historic Buildings, a project of the Myrtle Point Rotary, Chamber of Commerce and the Coos County Logging Museum (circa 1985) and Take a Break in Historic Myrtle Point produced by the Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce (circa 1975) unless otherwise noted.
