407 Ash Street
" Deyoe/Clark Home "

This home was built for Leroy W. Deyoe in about 1904 by Joe Knight. Mr. Deyoe was a manager for the Elk River Mining Company, and was associated with Elisha M. (E.M.) Smith in a planing mill that was located on the west end of Spruce Street. Source: 1904-5 Polk City Directory

After the Deyoe family, Dr. Clark and his wife occupied the home. Dr. Clark had an office over the N.P. Peterson General Mercantile on Spruce Street. His wife taught piano lessons in the home and many Myrtle Point residents remember taking lessons from her.

After serving as a private residence for many years, the building was made into apartments and is still used for that purpose. It is now owned by one of the many Barklow descendents and is being restored.
