Now word reaches here that while crossing the Siuslaw bar under sail Saturday 3d inst., owing to the cowardice of the sailor at the wheel, who is said to have deserted it, the vessel broached and dipped water and the captain and one man -- reported to be the mate -- were washed overboard.
